Is anyone else overloaded with spam in their work email accounts?

Our company spam rates have shot up, I calculated only 12% was good emails, and that does not include the spam that got through the filter... anyone else found the same thing in the last few months?

Reply:I have an account ( totally free ) with www.mail.com and out of the 3 years i've had it i only recieved maybe 7 . They are GREAT !!!!!!!!





this is the 12th free email site i've tried too !!
Reply:its a little high but it could be what your end users are doing with their email address online. ( such as signing up for crap etc )





i run an internet service, our mail server stops about 40,000 / day. Our rate of legit email is about 20%
Reply:I always use a temporary mailbox like mailinator.com if you have to register with a website certainly,keeps my junk mail down.
Reply:Over the period of say a full day we get some 100 - 150 of these. Seems the one's we get are from on-line pharmacies or from armerican based financial outfits. We've got probably the same commerical blockers as yourself but they still get through. What is actually laughable, you'll probably notice you'll not get the same high volume spam on a private e-mail address. Drug sales are one thing, but you'd think that the senders of the financial spam would realize that it's pointless sending them to anywhere other than to United States addresses. Even if customers in Europe where interested, they're not eligible because of business rules and constraints peculiar to the US. Pointless, pointless, pointless...

Reply:that is because the exchange server where your mail is being routed from doesn't have the proper protection installed to block spam





contact your network admin and ask them why not. Get a software for the server called ninja spam protection
Reply:We don't get spam e-mails but last week, I had 2 days off work and got back to 73 e-mails. First hour was spent sifting through and deleting with a coffee in hand. Hard life.

Reply:12% is a bad ratio for a business , We receive around 500 a day at our company but only 5-10 a week get though Mailmarshal and the rules we have set up.





78% of spam getting through to the staff can only be detrimental to your company.
